"You Say Goodbye, I Say Hello…”

hello written on a window
Enjoy tracks from John Prine, Bob Dylan, Emmylou Harris, and many more.

On John’s Porch this Sunday morning, October 16th we’re going to look at songs that say “hello” or “goodbye.” While I always try to stay on the positive side (hello), there are a lot more songs that fall on the negative side (goodbye). It’s easier to write about the finality of a situation than the beginning.

Sometimes we’re not even aware that something is beginning.

Hour One will feature songs from the likes of Curtis Salgado (the basis for the character of Jake Blues played by John Belushi in “The Blues Brothers”), Billy Boy Arnold, Colin Hay (the former lead singer and primary songwriter for Men At Work), Rhonda Vincent teaming with Daryle Singletary, John Prine and so many more.

In Hour Two, we’ll drop the themes and move along with some great music from Bob Dylan, Dave Alvin And The Guilty Men, Lyle Lovett, Chris Isaak, the great trio comprised of Nanci Griffith, Iris DeMent, and Emmylou Harris and so many more great singers and songwriters.

If you haven’t discovered John’s Porch yet, I hope you will check us out one Sunday morning. We play an eclectic mix of blues, country, bluegrass, rhythm & blues, mix of blues, country, bluegrass, rhythm & blues, zydeco, folk, and other genres that will make you happy.

I hope you will join me this Sunday, October 16th, from 10:00 to noon, on John’s Porch. We have plenty of room and we would love to have you over for company. You can find us on one of these great VPM Stations: 93.1 and 107.3 VPM-Music and 88.9 HD2, Richmond, and streaming online at VPM.org.
