I hope you will join me this Sunday morning, November 6 from ten until noon for the latest edition of John’s Porch. I have a lot of fun works ready for you as we celebrate the birthday of a person whose invention changed the sounds of classical music, jazz, rhythm and blues, blues, and rock and roll.

I’ll save the identity of this important individual a secret until showtime¸ but we will feature several songs that showcase this great invention. We’ve got such diverse artists as Gerry Rafferty and Steely Dan. Men At Work and Shade. Van Morrison and The Champs. Billy Joel and Jimmy Buffet. It all will make sense once we unveil the common factor among all of these musicians.

And that’s just in the first hour.

In the second hour I’ve got even more fun for you as we have music from Elton John teaming with Leon Russell, Bat For Lashes, The Wood Brothers, Nikki Lane, Suzie Vinnick, and The Unthanks – a very cool UK based folk group with amazing harmonies!

There’s also some great country/bluegrass and rhythm and blues. It’s got a lot to enjoy.

I would like to take a second to thank each and every one of you who have tuned in to John’s Porch. It’s a privilege to share this music with you on Sunday mornings. I know there is a lot you could be doing during this time and I’m honored that you are using this time to listen.

For those of you who haven’t visited John’s Porch yet, I hope you will check us out one Sunday morning. We play an eclectic mix of blues, country, bluegrass, rhythm & blues, mix of blues, country, bluegrass, rhythm & blues, zydeco, folk, and other genres that will make you happy.

I hope you will join me this Sunday, November 6th, from 10:00 to noon, on John’s Porch. We would love to have you over for company. You can find us on one of these great VPM Stations: 93.1 and 107.3 VPM-Music and 88.9 HD2, Richmond, and streaming online at VPM.org.
