Henry Cook and I hope you will join us for Time For The Blues this Saturday night, December 10th, at 9:00 as we drop another classic program for your listening pleasure. We’ve got a genuine rock and roll idol who has resurfaced as a blues icon as well as a great guitar player and more.
First up, out of the gate is the one and only Dion who once sang “Runaround Sue” and “Teenager In Love” but is now getting back to his blues roots and teaming up with the likes of Joe Bonamassa, John Hammond, and Jeff Beck on his Blues With Friends compact disc.
Dion has still got great pipes and he has chosen his friends wisely as together they play some excellent blues. We think you’re really going to enjoy these selections.
Next up is guitar master Chris Cain from his recent release Raisin’ Cain. It’s on Alligator and we’ve got three – count ‘em – three smoking sides for you. We’ve featured him in the past and always gotten a good response when we play him and think that’s going to be the case again!
Speaking of Alligator, they recently celebrated their 50th anniversary and since we’re in a festive mood, we thought it would be fun to play a few more songs from their great catalog. We’ve got Rufus Thomas, A.C. Reed, and Hound Dog Taylor and the Houserockers for you.
And we’re still not done.
We’ve also got Bette Smith with Jimbo Mathus, Al Basile, and Blind Fiction.
All in all, it’s a great show and we would love to have you join us for the fun if you care to join us at 9:00 this Saturday night. That’s December 10th, and you can find us on one of these great VPM Stations: 89.1 WCNV, Heathsville; 90.1 WMVE, Chase City; and the flagships, 93.1 and 107.3 VPM-Music and 88.9 HD2, Richmond, and online at VPM.org where it’s always Time For The Blues!
