ASM Global signs on to develop and operate GreenCity arena

Henrico’s GreenCity project received an early valentine Monday in the announcement of a developer and operator for the $2.3 billion development’s arena. ASM Global has signed on to develop and manage the 17,000-seat arena that’s planned to anchor GreenCity, a massive mixed-use development set to fill 200 acres along the Interstate 95 corridor.

Adarra restaurant to take over former Mamma Zu building in Oregon Hill

The mystery of who bought the old Mamma Zu building in Oregon Hill last summer has been solved. Lyne and Randall Doetzer, owners of popular Jackson Ward restaurant Adarra, revealed this week they were the buyers of 501 S. Pine St. and intend to move their four-year-old eatery there.

A Shyndigz Inn? Sweets shop owners planning hotel next door on Cary St.

There’s a new boutique hotel in the works in the Fan, and its guests can likely expect a more substantial treat than the traditional mint on the pillow. Nicole and Bryon Jessee, the married couple owners of dessert shop Shyndigz, are planning to build a 19-room hotel at 1904 W. Cary St. The proposed development would rise four stories on what’s now a parking lot across the street from the Shyndigz location and adjacent to its future home at 1912 W. Cary St.

Sex toy shop Hustler Hollywood opens in former Pizza Hut on Broad

A national chain of sex toy shops has made its first move into the Richmond market. California-based Hustler Hollywood opened a store last week at 2343 W. Broad St. on the edge of the Fan near the Science Museum of Virginia. The store is the company’s first shop in Richmond and second location in Virginia.
