A salute to music legends: Beck and Crosby

Jeff Beck and David Crosby

Henry Cook and I hope you will join us for Time For The Blues this Saturday, February 25th at 9:00 p.m. as we pay tribute to two great artists we recently lost. We try not to jump immediately after an artist passes; rather we wait a few weeks so we have time to put together a show that properly showcases their strongest abilities.

Unfortunately we lost these two great artists at around the same time so Henry has put together a show that shines the spotlight on both of them.

Up first is Jeff Beck, both with The Yardbirds (and you know how Henry loves his Yardbirds) and his early and later solo career. There is some truly great material here and a lot of music other tribute shows did not play.

The other artist is a two-time Rock And Roll Hall of Fame inductee; once with The Byrds and once with Crosby, Stills, and Nash. Of course, we’re talking about David Crosby. While Crosby is not remembered for his blues repertoire, several of his songs have a strong blues flavor. Henry has put together a great collection of Crosby’s music and I think you’re really going to enjoy it.

All in all, it’s a great show and we would love to have you join us for the fun if you care to join us at 9:00 this Saturday night. That’s February 25th, and you can find us on one of these great VPM Stations: 89.1 WCNV, Heathsville; 90.1 WMVE, Chase City; and the flagships, 93.1 and 107.3 VPM-Music and 88.9 HD2, Richmond, and online at VPM.org where it’s always Time For The Blues!
