The Winter Olympics were held in Turin, Italy; Twitter (now referred to as “X”) was founded; the FIFA World Cup is held in Germany and won by Italy; Pluto got demoted from planet to a big rock; and two strange guys got their own radio show at 1:00 Sunday mornings…

Yes, once again, Henry Cook and I have survived another year of Time For The Blues without too much turmoil and we’re getting ready to celebrate another anniversary and this time we’re giving you the presents. Fortunately for us, those presents are nonrefundable.

We’re going to take a look back at some of the great moments of the show – which should take about five minutes – and then bring you lots of great music! We’ve got a look back at Delmark’s 70th Anniversary with the likes of Memphis Slim, Magic Sam, and Big Time Sarah.

We’ve got a live classic from Joe Bonamassa and Beth Hart.

We’ve got another classic from George “Harmonica” Smith and sides from some British Unusual Suspects? Who are they? Tune in as I don’t want to ruin the surprise…

How about some retro R&B from the Queen herself, Aretha Franklin? Wilson Pickett? And James Carr? If you don’t know James Carr, we have a little story to tell you about him and the label that tried to launch his career.

We’ve also got some new material from our friends Anthony Rosano and the Conqueroos as well as our friends The Nick Moss Band featuring Dennis Gruenling. You won’t want to miss these two hot bands that are definitely going places.

We’ve even got a song written about us by our friends the Jon Spear Band.

All that and a few surprises to boot! All in all, it’s a great show and we would love to have you join us for the fun if you care to join us at 9:00 this Saturday night. That’s August 5th, and you can find us on one of these great VPM Stations: 89.1 WCNV, Heathsville; 90.1 WMVE, Chase City; and the flagships, 93.1 and 107.3 VPM-Music and 88.9 HD2, Richmond, and online at VPM.org where it’s always Time For The Blues!
