The Central Virginia Masterworks Chorale will present their winter program this weekend, with performances Friday evening, December 8th (7:30pm) at Grace Baptist Church in Richmond and Sunday afternoon, December 10th (3:00pm) at Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church in Ashland.
I sat down with Artistic Director Ryan Tibbetts to get a preview of the concert, which features John Rutter’s Magnificat, one of the great choral works of the holiday season. The ensemble will also perform Elaine Hagenberg’s Illuminare, a five-movement work for chorus and chamber orchestra exploring themes of darkness and light. I hope you enjoy our chat!
