This week in central Virginia, there will be two performances of Ludwig van Beethoven's Triple Concerto for piano, violin, cello and orchestra. This is thanks to a partnership between the University of Richmond Symphony Orchestra and the Petersburg Symphony Orchestra, the Tri-Cities community orchestra.
Naima Burrs is the conductor for both orchestras, and she came up with the idea of this project with pianist Joanne Kong, faculty member at the University of Richmond. They joined me for a discussion about the piece, along with the other soloists, violinist Anyango Yarbo-Davenport and cellist Christoph Wagner.
Performances are being held Wednesday evening, April 17th at 7:30pm in Camp Concert Hall at the University of Richmond, and Sunday afternoon, April 21st at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Petersburg.
Yours in good music,
