The Central Virginia Masterworks Chorale is presenting the Virginia premiere of William Payn's "LOVE" this weekend. The piece is a commissioned work that uses words from notable poets talking about love and the human connection. Conducted by Artistic Director Ryan Tibbetts, the Chorale will be joined by soprano Margaret Woods and baritone Joel Kumro, as well as a small chamber orchestra. I have the honor of serving as narrator for the performances, which will be held at Duncan Memorial United Methodist Church in Ashland this evening (May 17th) at 7:30pm and at Grace Baptist Church in Richmond on Saturday evening (May 18th) at 7:30pm.

William Payn and Ryan Tibbetts joined me live in the studio for "Afternoon Classical" to discuss this collaboration and the new work, which highlights lyrics taken from poems by E.E. Cummings, Langston Hughes, Elizabeth Barrett Browning and more.

I hope you have the chance to come out and hear this wonderful music this weekend!

Yours in good music,
Mike Goldberg
