Dominion plans to operate first small modular nuclear reactor in U.S.
Reported by VPM News’ Patrick Larsen
Dominion Energy announced it was seeking proposals for the nation’s first small modular nuclear reactor — including whether it’s feasible to put the reactor at the company’s existing North Anna nuclear facility.
Speaking at the event, Gov. Glenn Youngkin called the project Virginia’s energy “moonshot” and ceremonially signed a bill to allow Dominion to recover some of its early development costs through a new surcharge on ratepayers, if state regulators approve.
U.S. military expects to end the Gaza pier run by local soldiers this month
Reported by WHRO News’ Steve Walsh
The Pentagon announced that a mobile pier, which hasn’t been running since late June due to weather issues, will once again begin delivering aid this week to residents of Gaza who are facing starvation — but will only operate for a short time before shutting down permanently.
Roughly 500 troops set sail from Virginia Beach’s Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek–Fort Story in Virginia Beach in March for the joint Army-Navy mission. The project was originally predicted to deliver up to 150 truckloads of aid each day.
