It’s hard to believe that this week’s episode of Time For The Blues marks our 18th anniversary. In some ways it seems like we just started the show, in other ways it seems like we’ve been doing it forever!
At the age of 18, in most countries, a person reaches the age of majority, they can vote in elections, or get married without parental consent, or buy tickets to an NC-17 movie. In China, 18 is considered a lucky number. So, the next time you’re in a casino, put 18 smackers on number 18 in roulette and see what happens.
The house will gladly take your money is what will probably happen.
Instead, why don’t you tune in to Time For The Blues and listen to some of our past great music and our best jokes. Both of ‘em!
There’s stuff from our early years (when we were on at 1:00 a.m.) with the Legendary Blues Band, Paul Rogers with David Gilmour, and of course Muddy Waters. There’s our tribute to Elvis show (with an additional track that we didn’t have at the time), and some Unusual Suspects that we’ve played over the years.
We’ve also got some new works from Johnny Ray Jones and our pal Eden Brent and we’re going to play a song that another pal, Jon Spear, wrote about us!
All that and a few surprises to boot! All in all, it’s a great show and we would love to have you join us for the fun if you care to join us at 9:00 this Saturday night. That’s August 10th and you can find us on one of these great VPM Stations: 89.1 WCNV, Heathsville; 90.1 WMVE, Chase City; and the flagships, 93.1 and 107.3 VPM-Music and 88.9 HD2, Richmond, and online at VPM.org where it’s always Time For The Blues!
