Hi there, Blues fans! Henry Cook and I hope you will join us this Saturday night, November 16th as we get ready to drop our next spine-tingling adventure that we call Time For The Blues.
And do we have some fun lined up for you. First up is Selwyn Birchwood, who was just here in town a few weeks ago showcasing his latest CD, Old School. This is his first independent release (don’t worry, he’s still signed to Alligator) and he’s done some great songs in the old school vein, including a duet with the legendary Bobby Rush.
Speaking of Alligator, they have a great new CD out from Ronnie Baker Brooks and we’ve got a copy to share with you. Ronnie is the son of the fantastic Lonnie Brooks, so we’ve included a song from Daddy Brooks as well.
What tremendous talent lies in that family.
But that’s not all. We’ve included a retro song from Love Sculpture (taking on a Gershwin Classic!), and new material from Jimmy Carpenter and from Blues People.
All that and a few surprises to boot! All in all, it’s a great show and we would love to have you join us for the fun if you care to join us at 9:00 this Saturday night. That’s November 16th, and you can find us on one of these great VPM Stations: 89.1 WCNV, Heathsville; 90.1 WMVE, Chase City; and the flagships, 93.1 and 107.3 VPM-Music and 88.9 HD2, Richmond, and online at VPM.org where it’s always Time For The Blues!
