One change is staggered start times. Kindergarten start times will be split. Half of the students will begin September 3rd and 4th. The other half will start September 5 and 6th. This is to give teachers and new students a better chance to get acquainted with new bus routes and a new school.
Everyone else - first grade through high school seniors - will start September 3rd.
Other changes include two full weeks - including three weekends - off for Winter Break. This would align with other school districts in Richmond. Also students will now enjoy a full week off during Thanksgiving, compared to the three days they would normally have.
The new calendar is similar to what Superintendent Dr. Merv Daugherty introduced when he was Superintendent in Delaware.
