In Chesterfield County, residents who may have missed voting in person--because they tested positive for Covid-19--still can.
Electoral Board Chair Susan Beals said Monday that curbside voting has been expanded to include people who have tested positive for COVID-19.
“If you are testing positive for Covid or you are quarantining due to Covid and you find that you have gotten to election day and have not voted yet, we invite you to come and vote curbside on election day,” Beals said.
Curbside voting was already available for those 65 and older or who have disabilities.
To cast a ballot this way, a voter calls a number posted outside the polling station while still in their car. The reason for this, Beals said, is to let the poll worker know of their positive test so they can take appropriate safety precautions.
Other measures the county is taking include having physically distant lines, distributing one-time use pens, and having plexiglass barriers at check in. And Beals says all poll workers will be wearing masks.
