Virginia elections office finds another 149,000 records affected by IT glitch

In a statement, the department said the problem is “directly related” to an IT error that caused a separate batch of 107,000 records last month to sit in limbo from May through September.
Virginia receives $22.8M to reclaim mine sites

Virginia has about 3,000 abandoned mine sites, according to Tarah Kesterson, of the Virginia Department of Energy. Those sites might contain waste coal piles that can leach into groundwater, unstable excavations that threaten to collapse, or conditions ripe for harmful runoff and erosion.
