Ongoing review identifies 3 cases that should have been tested in DNA review
The General Assembly ordered a review of cases involving lab analysis conducted by Mary Jane Burton earlier this year, following the VPM podcast Admissible: Shreds of Evidence, which investigated the quality and accuracy of her lab work.
As Linda Jackson, director of the state’s forensic science department, told the Virginia State Crime Commission on Tuesday, that review uncovered three cases that should have been included in a post-conviction DNA testing review ordered in 2005 by then-Gov. Mark Warner — but weren’t tested.
