The School Board is set to host a special meeting and then a closed-door session “to consider the assignment, appointment, promotion, performance, demotion, salaries, disciplining or resignation of specific public officers, appointees or employees of the School Board.”

Richmond City Council

The council is set to vote on multiple consent agenda items recommended for approval, including an ordinance to accept $1.1 million from the Virginia Department of Transportation to replace traffic signal controllers for roughly 300 intersections in the city.
Councilors are slated to vote on a proposal to acquire a gift of over 4 acres of undeveloped parcels — at 1401 and 1421 Brander St. — from the Capital Region Land Conservancy to incorporate it as part of the Richmond Slave Trail.
The council is also expected to vote on an ordinance that would grant a conservation and open-space easement on the parcels to the Capital Region Land Conservancy, Inc. and the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation.
Land acquisitions have been made, including last year, to ensure access to parts of the trail remain secure.
Also on the consent agenda:
- a special-use permit request for a new mixed-used building in the Westhampton neighborhood — 5728 Patterson Ave. and 805 Libbie Ave. — with four commercial spaces
- a special-use permit request for a mixed-use building with outdoor dining in the Chimborazo neighborhood located at 3308 E. Marshall St.
Education and Human Services Standing Committee

Superintendent Jason Kamras is expected to discuss his fiscal year 2026 budget proposals with the committee. Traci DeShazor, deputy chief administrative officer for Human Services, is also set to talk about an array of issues, including inclement weather shelters and the city’s community health improvement plan.
The panel is slated to hear presentations on early childhood, the city’s education trust fund and resilience initiative.

Chesterfield County School Board members are slated to get an update on the superintendent’s proposed fiscal year 2026 operating budget and five-year plan.
The board is also expected to get updates on the district’s compensation strategy to recruit and keep employees, legislative priorities and the citizens’ budget advisory committee annual report.

The board is set to hold public hearings on the FY26 operating budget and the FY26 capital improvement plan.
The board is also expected to vote on authorizing a deal to replace the roof at Falling Creek Elementary School through a company that quoted the district a little over $1.8 million for the project.
Hanover County

The Hanover County Board of Supervisors is set to host an education committee meeting with the local School Board to discuss its proposed FY26 budget.
The School Board received an initial presentation from interim Superintendent Lisa Pennycuff last month and plans to host a public hearing Tuesday after speaking with county supervisors.

The School Board is slated to hold a public hearing regarding its FY26 budget and receive updates on the school division’s boundary line adjustments. The board is also expected to consider the following agenda items of note:
- policy revisions and updated terminology regarding the prohibited use of items intended for smoking on school property (These adjustments reflect a change to the Code of Virginia in multiple sections, including provisions that address criminal behavior.)
- adding gambling addiction to the list of safety hazards on which instruction will be provided
- a provision for distributing information on fentanyl (This reflects a change to the Code of Virginia and is necessary to remain in compliance with state law.)
Henrico County
Henrico County Board of Supervisors

The Henrico County Board of Supervisors expects to receive results from a third-party review evaluating the county’s utility infrastructure and response to a disruption of water service across the region that triggered the city of Richmond’s water treatment facility.
The report comes 30 days after hiring the firms Whitman Requardt & Associates and AquaLaw. Henrico issued a countywide boil water advisory in early January. About 24,000 county residents and water customers, primarily in the county’s eastern areas, had no water service for several days.
After the board’s work session, it will reconvene for a 6 p.m. meeting to discuss its regular agenda items.

The School Board is set to hold a public hearing on recommendations for the district’s FY26 financial plan. Members will also vote on consent agenda items, which include a $1.8 million proposal to renovate Johnson Elementary School.
