A few dozen homes and businesses, including Kings Dominion, are impacted.

A boil water notice in the Doswell pressure zone of Hanover County remains in effect, following a water main break overnight Friday near the Doswell Water Treatment Plant.

The “precautionary” notice was issued early Saturday morning, following guidance from the Virginia Department of Health after there was a drop in water pressure.

It’s unclear if the notice will continue beyond Sunday — though a release Saturday night from the county stated that repairs to the system “are ongoing and will continue through the week.”

The first round of bacteriological samples was collected a little afternoon Saturday, and the second round was scheduled for Sunday morning.

“The advisory will remain in place until test results confirm the water meets all safety standards,” a press release late Saturday stated.

There are 22 residential homes in the affected area, which had bottled water distributed to their homes Saturday according to the county.

Those impacted are north of Hickory Hill Road along the Route 1 corridor to the Verdon Road area, and along the Route 30 corridor from Route 1 to Meadow Event Park.

Kings Dominion is among the impacted businesses —which decided to close over the weekend due to the advisory.

The county said in a statement Saturday evening that the “Chickahominy Health District is working closely with local businesses to ensure they have the support and resources needed to continue operating safely.”
