ASMA KHALID, HOST:
Good morning, I'm Asma Khalid.
Every New Year's Eve, thousands of people gather in New York Times Square to watch the ball drop. It's why businesses near the iconic site are charging big bucks if you want to have dinner and a show as you ring in the new year. It's MORNING EDITION.
