Emmy-winning composer Jeff Beal is well known for his work in film and television, but has also written many works for the concert hall. He's recently released "The Paper Lined Shack," featuring a new work for soprano and orchestra to celebrate Leonard Slatkin's 50 years with the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra. VPM's Mike Goldberg talks with Jeff about his storied career and this new album.

The Grammy-winning chamber choir The Crossing has released a new album "Born," which features the music of Edie Hill and Michael Gilbertson. The recording has been described as "an expedition into themes of extinction, relationships, loss, and love." VPM's Mike Goldberg spoke with the composers and conductor Donald Nally for a preview.
