Un-Wine'd host Tassie Pippert shows viewers how to prepare a flavor packed Indian dish, Chicken Shawarma, served with a delightful garlic yogurt sauce that's simple to make at home. Shawarma is a Middle Eastern dish of garlicky meat or poultry served typically on pitas.
Ingredients
- 2 T. olive oil
- 1 large clove garlic
- 1 T. coriander
- 1 T. cumin
- 1 T. cardamom
- ½ t. cayenne (more for a spicier dish)
- 4 chicken breasts cut into thin slices
- Juice of one lemon
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Sauce (below)
- Large flour tortillas
- Tomato slices
- Lettuce
- Red onion, sliced
Sauce:
- 1 c. lemon Greek yogurt (or use plain)
- 1 t. Cumin
- Zest and juice of 1 lemon
- 1 clove garlic, finely minced
- Salt and pepper to taste
Blend together in a small bowl and serve with Chicken Shawarma in tortillas.
Preparation
Heat the olive oil in a large fry pan over medium-high heat.
Add garlic, coriander, cumin, cardamom, and cayenne until bloomed for flavor.
Immediately add the chicken and stir fry until cooked through.
Place a serving of chicken on a tortilla and top with sauce, tomato, lettuce and red onion.
Wrap burrito style and serve.
