Finding life hard to put into words?  RVA’s arts and culture community keeps finding new and innovative ways to reach out and reinvent themselves during a challenging time.  For the times when life seems overwhelming, check out some virtual performances or galleries.  And remember - local arts and culture are really just a few clicks away, even now.
 


1.  VIRTUAL SHAVE A LIFE 2020!

ComedySportz Richmond’s annual fundraiser for the St. Baldrick's Foundation is back in a live virtual match with raised stakes - they're all ending up BALD, including a whole bunch of Loyal Fans!  For more information on the show, or how you can participate to raise funds to combat childhood cancer, go HERE.


2.  SOCIALLY DISTANCED ARCHDUKE TRIO

The Garth Newel Music Center offers a YouTube premiere of Beethoven’s Archduke Trio, with special pre-concert lecture by Stephen Whiting, University of Michigan Professor of Musicology.


3.  WALKER PETER VANLANDINGHAM VIRTUAL OPENING

The Glave Kocen Gallery will launch another beautiful and powerful exhibit from three dynamic artists.  Tune into a Facebook Live virtual exhibition, featuring a chat with the artists.  


4.  TREY HALL + STRAWBERRY MOON

Join Gallery 5 for a sweet evening of tunes, live on Facebook and Instagram, starting with the sad, dreamy music of Strawberry Moon and then some throw-back music styles of Trey Hall.  Donations welcome - all to support Gallery 5 and the artists.


5.  TEA PARTY WITH ELOISA JAMES

Say yes! ...to a live, virtual tea party with romance author Eloisa James, as she launches her latest novel, Say Yes to the Duke, book five of The Wildes of Lindow Castle series.  During the tea, Ms. James will be interviewed by Fountain Bookstore owner Kelly Justice and there will be a Q&A with the author!


6.  RALPH’S WORLD VIRTUAL CONCERT SERIES

Short Pump Town Center brings a high energy virtual concert series to Facebook live, featuring  Ralph's World, a fan-favorite children’s musical artist and performer.  Sing and dance along each Thursday evening for a half-hour of fun!


7.  RANGER CHAT: WEAPONS OF THE REVOLUTION AND CIVIL WAR
History
May 20, 1pm

Have you ever wondered how Civil War weapons work?  What kinds of weapons did each side use?  How did technology change from the Revolution?   This chat, offered by the Richmond Battlefield Park, will discuss weapons from both conflicts.  Ranger chats are every Wednesday at 1pm on Facebook Live and are great for all ages.


8.  GOBLINS AND GROWLERS FANTASY BOOK CLUB

May 18, 7pm

Goblins and Growlers gets together every third Monday night of the month on their Twitch channel to talk about fantasy novels that are maybe a little less appreciated than, say, "Lord of the Rings.”  They will discuss various series and then decide what book to read for next time! Join the conversation on the chat!


9.  STORYTELLING WITH JEFF
Storytelling/Music
Tuesdays through May, 10am

Music man and storyteller, Jeff Beatman, will be telling 3-4 different stories every Tuesday for kids. Check his Facebook page each Monday for which stories he’ll tell the next morning.
