VPM Music Series Brewer’s Sessions to Be Featured at Richmond International Film Festival

D Folks at Brewer's Sessions

Ajay Brewer is well-known for his community support in Richmond’s Manchester neighborhood, where he owns two restaurants and an art gallery. Brewer’s Cafe partners with local community leaders each month to present First Fridays Manchester, featuring live music and local artists lining 12th Street at Bainbridge, where his popular coffee shop is located.

It was only natural, then, that Brewer’s connections in the local art and music community would translate into Brewer’s Sessions,” a digital series produced in partnership with VPM, which showcases Richmond’s rich and varied music scene from behind the counter of Brewer’s Cafe.

This week, Brewer’s Sessions will be featured at two events in the Richmond International Film Festival. RIFF offers Brewer’s Sessions Live at The Diamond with TSoul performing on Friday, September 11 at 5:30 p.m., and two video screenings: one following Brewer’s Sessions Live at The Diamond; and the other as a part of RIFF’s Virginia Spotlight at The Byrd on Saturday, September 12, at 3:30 p.m.

“I am honored to be in this year's festival,” Brewer said. “I truly hope that it will help to put the Richmond music scene on the map!”

Steve Humble, VPM’s Chief Content Officer, shared his enthusiasm about VPM’s partnership with Brewer:  "Ajay Brewer is a force. He has done amazing things in the Manchester neighborhood with his coffee shop and art gallery. VPM cares about our community and connecting to the people and places that matter. Brewer’s Sessions is a chance to partner with a Richmond icon like Ajay and bring a new platform to local artists.”

The first two seasons of Brewer’s Sessions are available to stream on Spotify and to watch online at vpm.org/brewers-sessions. Season 3 is scheduled for release in late Fall.

The Richmond International Film Festival continues through Sunday, September 20th, featuring film, music, and art from all over the world. Social distancing is required for all in-person events, with online streaming also available.
