With wines from more than 100 vineyards, the Virginia Governor’s Cup is one of the most rigorous wine competitions in the United States. Last year, Bluestone Vineyards, located in the Shenandoah Valley, and Ingleside Vineyards, located in the Northern Neck, won a total of 18 awards combined. But, what makes an award-winning wine?

To find out, Tassie Pippert, host of “ Un-Wine’d,” is hosting a happy hour with Lee Hartman from Bluestone Vineyards, along with Doug Flemer and Mark Misch of Ingleside Vineyards. Hear about how vineyards create their wines and enter competitions. Plus, Tassie will answer all of your wine - and food - questions.

During the event, Tassie will be enjoying Bluestone Vineyards’ Cabernet Franc and Chardonnay, which both won a silverin the 2020 Governor’s Cup. Those wines can be ordered on Bluestone’s website. She will also enjoy Albariño 2019 and Petit Verdot 2018 from Ingleside. Tassie recommends ordering your selections by March 1 so they arrive in time for the happy hour.

The event is Friday, March 12 at 6:00 p.m. You must register to attend the event. To register please click here.

After registering, you will receive a confirmation email with information about the event. Plus, Tassie will share a specially selected recipe that pairs well with the wines being tasted.
