As the weather cools, remember to stay involved with the latest in RVA arts and culture, while at the same time, staying safe. So many of our arts & culture organizations have discovered creative ways provide personal, in-person experiences that minimize your risk for COVID and maximize your enjoyment of the best our region has to offer. 1. THE 59TH VIRGINIA PEANUT FESTIVAL

The 59th Annual Virginia Peanut Festival is back and will have all your favorites including arts and crafts, educational exhibits, a parade, live musical entertainment throughout the weekend, tractor displays, The Car Show and that festival food we all look forward to every year. From the old to the new, there is something there for everyone. Presented by the Emporia-Greensville Chamber of Commerce.


2. VINCENT RIVER

Richmond Triangle Players continues its 29th season with the Virginia premiere of Philip Ridley’s Vincent River, an acclaimed play that took London’s West End by storm. In this riveting drama, Davey has seen something he can’t forget. 4. REVENGE OF THE ELECTRIC CAR

As a part of Electricarpalooza and in celebration of National Drive Electric Week, Drive Electric RVA brings the 10th anniversary screening of the documentary Revenge of the Electric Car with panel discussions on EV Mythbusting and Building a New (and Better) Model for Transportation. 5. STORIES & STRINGS: A VIOLINS OF HOPE CHAMBER MUSIC CONCERT

Amnon Weinstein has spent the last two decades locating and restoring violins that were played by Jewish musicians during the Holocaust. The Weinstein JCC is proud to present Stories & Strings, a Violins of Hope chamber music concert where these violins will be played by members of the Richmond Symphony Orchestra.  As the Violins of Hope are as much about the music as they are about the people, this program will focus on both, bringing the once-silenced voices and spirits to life. 6. DEATH AND REBIRTH IN A SOUTHERN CITY: RICHMOND'S HISTORIC CEMETERIES

Join the Library of Virginia for a virtual discussion of Ryan K. Smith's new book, Death and Rebirth in a Southern City: Richmond's Historic Cemeteries. Richmond holds one of the most dramatic landscapes of death in the nation, and this book offers the first comparative study of its cemeteries from the city's founding to the present, as well as efforts made toward their preservation. Reynolds Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of Keep Coming Round, a solo exhibition of Leigh Sugg’s. The exhibition will open with a public reception with the artist at the Libbie location. 


8. ENSEMBLE 1500: THE FRANCO-FLEMISH LEGACY

Centenary United Methodist Church offers a unique program of Franco-Flemish music, circa 1500, performed on period instruments. In the early 16th Century, the Franco-Flemish masters were so skilled that most European courts preferred them over local or regional musician. Ensemble 1500 uses reeds, brass, and recorder consorts to bring this music back to life. No registration required.

10. ÇUDAMANI: GAMELAN AND DANCE OF BALI

An island culture comes alive with the rhythms and traditions of sparkling Gamelan music and dance performed by Gamelan Çudamani, an Indonesian performance company dedicated to preserving the vitality of Balinese arts and traditions. 11. VMHC MEMBER MONDAYS

The Virginia Museum of History & Culture invites their members to bring a blanket, picnic, and chairs to enjoy a peaceful respite in the beautiful and spacious gardens at Virginia House. They are partnering with a local restaurant to offer pre-purchased and contactless pick up of a curated cheese plate from Truckle Cheesemongers and delicious bottled cider from Blue Bee Cider. Personal picnics are welcome, however outside alcohol is prohibited. Registration required.
