The VPM News team received seven awards for excellence in reporting at the 2022 Virginias AP Broadcasters Awards. The winners were announced on April 1 during an awards luncheon at The Greenbrier Resort in White Sulphur Springs, W.Va.
“Our news team worked tremendously hard in 2022 to keep our audience connected to what matters, and we are proud of their accomplishments,” said VPM News Director Elliott Robinson. “There was no shortage of deserving nominations this year, and we will continue to strive for journalistic excellence in 2023.”
The annual competition drew 709 entries from 39 broadcast news organizations representing Virginia and West Virginia.

- Best Light Feature: Samantha Willis and Martin Montgomery for “Rev. Cora’s Gospel”
- Best Old Dominion Heritage: Roberta Oster, Brad Clore and Dennis Ting for “Descendants’ Voices at Monticello”
