UPDATE: The deadline to submit podcasts for the RESONATE Pitch Party has been extended until September 18.
The Institute for Contemporary Art at Virginia Commonwealth University has announced the second annual RESONATE Podcast Festival, taking place November 3-4.
Over two days, attendees will be treated to workshops from skilled producers, a special live performance and the RESONATE Pitch Party, sponsored by VPM. Between sessions, participants can enjoy snacks, visit the cafe, art exhibitions and converse with people who love podcasts as much as you do. The events will take place at the ICA at VCU located at 601 W Broad St, Richmond, VA 23220.
The RESONATE Pitch Party is a contest featuring three jury-selected producers who will pitch their podcasts to a panel of judges in the style of the popular show, “Shark Tank.” The winner will receive $10,000 from VPM to produce a pilot episode of their podcast.
Producers are invited to pitch original shows featuring sound-rich, creative nonfiction storytelling. True crime podcasts will not be considered, nor will chatcasts. Interested applicants should submit their entries through the portal, which opens on August 21st. The finalists will be announced in September and invited to attend RESONATE, where they will pitch their shows in front of a full house of attendees.
All finalists will receive free passes to the 2023 RESONATE Podcast Festival. In addition, they will work alongside podcast industry professionals to hone their pitches prior to their presentation at the RESONATE Pitch Party. Finalists must attend the RESONATE Podcast Festival and participate in the Pitch Party to be eligible to win.
