Join us for John’s Porch Sunday AND Monday!

We’ve got a busy Labor Day Weekend here on John’s Porch! We’ll be in our usual Sunday morning slot from 10:00 until noon, and we’ll also take over the airwaves on Monday evening from 7:00 until 9:00, in place of Jazz Weeknights with Annie Parnell program! I certainly hope you can join me on one - or both - occasions as each show is unique.

For Sunday’s show, I’m featuring songs for the workers. We’ll celebrate everybody who works to keep this world turning for the entire first hour. There are songs you know, and some that will be new to you from the likes of Roy Orbison, Albert Collins, Jerry Hill, Hazel Dickens, Rosie Flores, Sue Foley, Becky Buller, Carey Bell and more.

Hour two features my interview with rising country singer Claire Daniel. This young woman has a great voice and I’m proud to introduce her and her new song, Cherokee Rose, to you. You won’t want to miss her!

After that, we’ll indulge in a little bit of musical gluttony with songs about food. After all, what’s Labor Day Weekend without the last barbecue of summer? We’ve got the likes of Louis Jordan, Little Richard, Mitch Woods, Saffire – The Uppity Blues Women, Professor Longhair, Lil’ Ed And The Blues Imperials and more.

And that’s just the beginning of the weekend!

On Monday, September 5th, we’ve got more songs celebrating the working men and women of this great country. We’ve got Gretchen Wilson, Billy Boy Arnold, Mississippi Heat, Rufus Thomas and more.

In hour two, I’ll talk with singer, songwriter, musician, producer, and all-around talent Mark Daniel about his recent song, Franklin, as well as an upcoming release. After that, I’ll be featuring songs by Alison Krauss and Robert Plant, Gillian Welch and David Rawlings, and more.

Just for fun, we’ll take a look at the stranger in music.

So, don’t you be a stranger. Drop by John’s Porch not once, but twice on this long weekend. Make plans to join me Sunday from 10:00 until noon, and Monday evening from 7:00 to 9:00. It’s all on VPM Music or streaming online at
