The Richmond Folk Festival is one of the river city’s most highly anticipated events. VPM not only streams the festival but we also share exclusive interviews with traditional artists from Virginia and from all seven stages.

Local artist Mickael Rosedale Broth, who created the Richmond mural "Ashen Lady of the James," was chosen to design the 2021 Folk Festival poster. The free festival takes place Friday, Oct. 8 through Sunday, Oct. 10.

Friday, Saturday and Sunday VPM Music will be broadcasting archived performances representing the best offerings of the Richmond Folk Festival. Julia Olin, Artistic Director at the National Council for the Traditional Arts, gives a preview of what you will hear.
