We are most assuredly living in historic times. What are you doing to record your thoughts, memories, experiences as we navigate our new normal? Each of us is a historian with our own story to tell. Find a way - express yourself in art, in words, in song! In this way we will remember all the voices contributing to the sea of history around us.
Art isn’t just something “artists” make - each of us has an artist living inside us!
In addition to making something only you can make, check out other folks doing the same! Our region continues to reopen to in-person arts and culture events, but there are also online and virtual events for those who prefer to remain at home. See below for a curated list of both!
1. VIRTUAL TALK WITH MARQUIS DE LAFAYETTE

2. GOTHIC PAJAMA PARTY WITH RENÉE AHDIEH

Penguin Random House is partnering with The Fountain Bookstore to celebrate the release of Renée Ahdieh's latest book, The Damned, with a Gothic pajama party on Crowdcast! Joined by special guest Sabaa Tahir, she and Renée will play classic games like truth or dare with plenty of time to answer your questions. Audience members are encouraged to wear their PJs! This is a free event, but you must register to participate.
3. BEETHOVEN 2020 SUMMER SERIES ONLINE CONCERT

The Richmond Symphony hosts an online weekly concert series this summer for 2020! This year's theme is Beethoven, honoring his 250th birthday, and offers six one-hour duets, featuring a single instrument paired with piano. These intimate performances are live-streamed on a private, secure channel. Tickets for the online concert experience are $12 each or $60 for a subscription to all six! This week features Ronald Crutcher on Cello and Joanne Kong on the Piano, playing 7 Variations on 'Bei Männern, welche Liebe fühlen", WoO 46, Bagatelle in E-flat Major, Opus 136, No. 3, Bagatelle in E-flat Major, Opus 33, No. 1, and the Cello Sonata in G Minor, Opus 5, No. 2..
4. VIRTUAL MILITARY HISTORY TRIVIA QUIZ

Find out how well you know your military history! Tune in to the Virginia War Memorial’s very first live Military History Trivia Quiz and play along. See if War Memorial Director, Dr. Clay Mountcastle, can stump you with questions of all kinds from his military history grab-bag. Suitable for all ages and interest levels, and participants can compete as an individual or as a team.. This event is FREE and open to all, but registration is required.

The Garth Newel Music Center presents the YouTube premiere of A Vision of Renewal, featuring piano Quintet No. 2 in A Major, Op. 81 by Antonín Dvořák as played by the Garth Newel Piano Quartet.
7. MOVIE MYTHBUSTING: THE PATRIOT

Join the Virginia Museum of History and Culture as members of our education team “mythbust” a fan-favorite - The Patriot! Watch the film in advance, whenever or however works best for you, and then log into an interactive Zoom presentation where we will chat about what’s true, what’s not, and make some interesting connections to our collection.
