VPM is excited to announce the reveal of a brand-new mural by artist David Marion of Liberated Flow at The Market at 25th in Richmond. The mural will be unveiled on October 26.

The mural was created in partnership with The Market at 25th and students and families of Richmond Public Schools (RPS), and it will be featured in The Market’s community room. The artwork pays homage to the East End community’s culture and family spirit and the educational and generational impact of public media programming.

“We wanted to create something that people could see themselves in and that honored the history, legacy and tradition of this community,” said Marion. “It’s been a tremendously rewarding experience connecting with everyone to hear their ideas and perspectives, and we hope this mural acts as an inspiration to our neighbors.”

The mural will serve as an aesthetic centerpiece to the culturally reflective, empowering and education-centered programming that is steeped in the mission of The Market at 25th. The collaboration is the result of a shared understanding of the importance of representation in the learning environment. VPM, The Market and Marion are committed to serving families and early learners with fun and engaging resources that reflect equity in education.
