Each day, VPM sets out to educate, entertain and inspire the members of our community with robust and diverse content that is accessible to as many people as possible. It’s also important that our communities see themselves through the stories we tell. To accomplish these goals, members of the VPM staff engage with those communities to meet and collaborate with individuals and organizations that also seek to be a resource to all Virginians.

Below are some highlights of how VPM has served our communities in the last month.

Events

On Sept. 5, VPM and Venture Richmond hosted a special screening of VPM’s new documentary The Sounds of Culture: 20 years of the Richmond Folk Festival at Studio Two Three.

On Sept. 12, VPM host/producer Angie Miles served as emcee for the Voices for Virginia's Children 30th Anniversary Amplify Awards event.

VPM had a significant presence and role in the 2024 Richmond Folk Festival, which took place from Sept. 27-29. As in years past, VPM broadcasted the performances live from the festival. At the VPM tent, attendees had the opportunity to record radio break introductions for VPM News and Music shows and were able to meet some of the reporters and hosts. Speaking Engagements

On Sept. 18, VPM multi-media reporter Keyris Manzanares joined a panel at the Richmond Public Schools’ Lunch & Learn Series during Hispanic Heritage Month for a discussion on Hispanic and Latin American culture.

On Sept. 21, VPM President & CEO Jayme Swain interviewed award-winning TV producer, author and TV and radio personality Andy Cohen as part of the JFS at 175 event at the Dominion Energy Center.
