John Porter

  • I sincerely hope you will join me this Sunday morning, November 20th, from 10:00 until noon on John’s Porch as we examine music for the soul. I firmly believe that all music emanates from the soul, but more obviously with certain songs. The first hour is chock full of those songs and I’ve got several that I think you’re going to enjoy.
  • Henry Cook and I hope you will join us this Saturday night, November 19th, at 9:00 as we unwrap the latest edition of Time For The Blues. We’ve got a very cool mix of retro sounds with a touch of new music that will serve to whet your appetite for an upcoming show.
  • I hope you will join me this Sunday morning, November 6 from ten until noon for the latest edition of John’s Porch. I have a lot of fun works ready for you as we celebrate the birthday of a person whose invention changed the sounds of classical music, jazz, rhythm and blues, blues, and rock and roll.
  • Henry Cook and I hope you will join us this Saturday night, November 5th, at 9:00 as we welcome our special guest Mr. Kevin Wiese, the former host of Weekend Overdrive heard on WCVE (before it became VPM). Kevin’s specialty is guitarists who “shred,” and I’ll leave it to him to explain that more thoroughly on the show.
  • Henry Cook and I hope you will join us this Saturday night, October 29, at 9:00 as we present a classic Halloween episode of Time For The Blues! The two of us really enjoy the holiday and have we got some blues numbers for you to help you celebrate.
  • There will be a lot of music that you will immediately recognize and a few that are more obscure, but I think the two hours of fun I’ve planned will put you in the mood to be ready for the ghosties, ghoulies, and long-legged beasties that will be stopping by your door the next day.
  • It's going to be a great time and you won’t even need to make a reservation. Heck, you don’t even need a ticket. Just show up and we’ll go on tour!
  • Henry Cook and I hope you will join us this Saturday night, October 22, at 9:00 as we uncork another classic edition of Time For The Blues! We’ve got some great blues coming your way and some amazing guitar work that is sure to make your night.
  • One day, blues archaeologists are going to excavate Henry’s office and find a treasure trove of material. Every so often he gets a wild hair and starts to organize his office, only to get distracted by his day-to-day duties of keeping our stations on the air.
  • On John’s Porch this Sunday morning, October 16th we’re going to look at songs that say “hello” or “goodbye.” While I always try to stay on the positive side (hello), there are a lot more songs that fall on the negative side (goodbye). It’s easier to write about the finality of a situation than the beginning.
